    i have an announcement:

    I am excited for Christmas

this is a long story that I will not write here now... suffice it to say that i am thankful.

this is not a hint, but a warning to those who have mentioned sending mail.  If you desire to send me mail, you need to send it immediatemente (i don't speak spanish, sorry) or I will not get it before I leave.  It takes about a month to arrive (sometimes longer) so if you have things to send, send them in the next couple days, and once the first week in November is over, please do not send mail to that address, as I will not likely receive it.  I have been so touched by the mail I have received from you, it has been a sweet sweet thing to my heart.

Today is the last day of Ramadan!  Tomorrow begins ELEID and I am very excited.  (aside, the man who works here is named Walid--oddly enough very similar to the arabic word for "boy"-- and he has always been friendly and kind to us, but he just invited me over for dinner and I cannot tell if he is just trying to be nice and invite me for the last day of Ramadan, or if he wants a date... I hate being single here... things would be so much easier if i had a husband, or a brother, to defer to... its a hard life, huh?)  My roommate Erica is in London right now staying with a friend who is interning at the Embassy.  And the rest of us are going to Hammamet on Friday for a little break.  Yay. Circumstances have arisen that will make it more difficult for me to access the internet in the comming month... but I shall try.

    i love you all.

    Eid Mubarak!

  • hmm... Miss You!

  • I did not realize how long it took for mail to arrive in Africa, which saddens me because I had intended on sending you some. Also, I did not realize how soon you would be home...time has passed quickly. It is strange because you will be home around the same time as David, and I am nothing but excited to see you but I am all nerves for his return. You would think that I would be ecstatic, but his return means facing whatever truth Truth has to offer...(sigh).

I wish a wonderful last month and you must call me when you return! I say, "yes," to a warm beverage @ the Dragonfly when you visit Oregon.

    love, jess

Proud. that's the word that comes tomind when I think of the wonderful things you are doing. proud that we were at one time close and that I will ALWAYS have a piece of the amazing person you are with me.

May the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you!

Love you; proud of you; hope to see you again someday.

if u happen to know the exact date..
    that would be even better..
    aahahahahah
    anyway...i love you lots.
i am glad you are in my life.

  • Erin--I have a selffish confession to make. My birthday is next Wednesday, we are celebrating next Friday, and I wish very much that you were home so that you could join us a the Luna Jazz Bar in Eugene...So, since you are not going to be here I feel that you should commit to doing something absolutely fabulous on the 11th in honor of me! :)

I hope you are joyous today--the sun has come out this morning...it looks stunning as it is streaming through the blinds during this second period class. I love Fall in the Northwest--how is it in Tunis?

    Love, Jess

  • *pout* Remember, no fair falling in love over seas when you have guys falling over eachother here for you! I kid of course. About the part that its not fair. Iiiiii'm gonna go pry my foot out of my mouth....

  • huh. foot in mouth disease. david suffers from it. apparently we all do...
(bear, if you read this, i love what you wrote. beautiful)
Erin, sorry i've not called you yet. Waiting for some ships to come in to buy a new calling card.
    Love you miss you....

  • a warning? sounds dangerous.  you know what else is dangerous? letting a friend go and not even realizing . . . well, everything.  over and over i just keep thinking, "she was at my wedding and we didn't even talk."  arg.  but our day will come.  yes.  it will come.

you wanna talk about inspiration? talk to the girl who's fightin' off the pervs half way around the world and learning new languages and eatin' food out of a doorless fridge.

    that's inspiring.

the other day i was at work and i was watching the news. something came on about ramadan. i heard the word then ran to the television.  i was looking for you in the background, but i didn't see you. like i said though, our day will come.  yes.  it will come . . .

  • and the world does get smaller.  so much smaller in fact that sometimes you bump into people and get pleasant surprises

  • well, he probably wants a date. but who wouldn't?

maybe you'll just have to humor him.

  • i got your post card! thank you!

i'm so sorry i haven't sent you a kentucky postcard yet. i'll send you one when you get home, i guess it's too late now to send one to tunisia. i'm so sorry, i am just absorbed in school.

i'm writing a paper on the krsna conciousness movement in the the us. i've been reading about hare krsnas for 3 days, and i'm sick of, sick of it!

    okay, hope you're well.

  • Hey mama...when are you going to be back? and you who has the honor of traveling with you??????

  • Unless im frowning, or in my blacks (mt'ers 'll know), there is no taking me seriously.

  • *smile*  will you be anywhere near nebraska?  probably not, but i can always hope.

  • Boy, it is really hard to read your profile, but I love the background.

Erin, I am so sorry that I have not been able to talk to you forever or write you letters or anything...but some circumstances have really gotten in the way of showing you that you mean the world to me, and I do miss you more than anything in the world!! I was deployed to Louisianna to help with hurricane relief in the military. It's a lot better than going to a war zone, but it was still very hard being away from home. Thank goodness I wasn't gone for very long and working 16 hour days was really rough, but I can't complain. I volunteered, hehe. I just wanted to make a difference and help...I also wanted another medal...haha.

You have always been on my mind, especially lately. I have been reading some of the other posts and they hint of you coming home...lemme know yo! If you would be so kind as to list your number again on my account, that would be very cool too. I look forward to hearing your sweet voice again soon.

*smooch* I can't wait to see you again.

  • Sounds like you are having a great time.  How long have you been there?  When do you get back? ~Jennifer
